Frequently asked questions

Who can rent a car from Delephna? +

We hire to licensed private-hire drivers who hold a current PCO licence and badge. You must be over 21 and hold a full DVLA photocard driving licence.

What is included in the weekly hire? +

Service, roadside assistance, road tax, MOT, PHV licence, tyres and brakes are all included in your weekly hire. The one thing not included is insurance.

Is insurance included? +

No. Insurance is the one thing you arrange yourself. You take out your own private-hire (PHV) insurance policy and send us the certificate. The vehicle is released to you once we have it.

How much is the deposit? +

There is a £500 refundable deposit on every car, alongside your first week’s rent. The deposit is returned when the car is handed back in good condition, subject to any charges.

How does approval work? +

We run quick checks on your application: we confirm your documents, run your DVLA check code and carry out a credit check. Around 90% of applications are approved, so most drivers do not need to worry.

What documents do I need to apply? +

Your first week’s rent and £500 deposit, your PCO licence and badge, your DVLA photocard driving licence, two utility bills or bank statements as proof of address matching your DVLA address, your National Insurance number, and your private-hire insurance certificate before the car is released.

Is there a mileage limit? +

Yes. Each car has a weekly mileage cap, either 800 or 1000 miles per week depending on the vehicle. If you go over the cap, an excess mileage charge applies.

How do I apply? +

Send an enquiry through the contact page, or call us. We will run the quick checks and, once approved and your insurance certificate is in, you can collect your car and start driving.
